The East African Community Competition Authority (EACCA) is participating in the East African Community (EAC) Jua Kali / MSME Exhibition in Kigali from 30th October to 08th November 2026under the theme: “Advancing Regional Value Chains in Leather and Horticulture Sectors.”
This year’s theme aligns greatly with the mandate of the Authority which is to promote and protect fair competition in the Community and enhance the consumer welfare. The objects of competition policy and practice to enhance the welfare of the people in the Community is to protect all market participants’ freedom to compete by prohibiting anticompetitive practices; protecting the opening of partner states markets against creation of barriers to interstate trade and economic transactions by market participants; guaranteeing equal opportunities for market participants in the Community especially to small and medium enterprises. Therefore, the Authority considers the SMEs to play a critical role in advancing regional integration in the various sectors.
The annual EAC Jua Kali Exhibition, brings together hundreds of entrepreneurs, artisans, and innovators from across Partner States to display regional products, forge trade networks, and explore cross-border market opportunities.
For the EACCA, participation in this landmark event highlights the vital link between competitive markets and MSME development. By regulating unfair trade practices, preventing anti-competitive mergers, abuse of dominant position and safeguarding consumer welfare, the EACCA ensures that growing small and micro enterprises can enter new regional markets on a level playing field.
Visitors to the exhibition are invited to interact with EACCA representatives to learn more about how fair market regulation supports sustainable growth across East Africa.
